Benue-born forward Akor Adams joins Iheanacho, Ejuke at Sevilla

Sevilla has confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Akor Adams who joins the Spanish club from Montpellier.

The 24-year-old already played 15 games for the French club, contributing three goals and three assists during this campaign.

Adams signed for Montpellier in August 2023, joining from Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK. Despite it being his debut season in France, he quickly adapted, becoming a regular starter.

His performances stood out as he scored 10 goals and provided two assists across 33 appearances in all competitions.

Before his time in France, Adams spent several successful seasons in Norway. He began his European journey in 2018, signing for Sogndal IL from Nigeria’s Jamba Football Academy.

At Sogndal, he made 56 appearances, registering 16 goals and six assists over three and a half seasons. These consistent displays earned him a move to Lillestrøm SK in 2022, where he played in Norway’s top division.

Adams truly shone at Lillestrøm. In his first season, he scored 11 goals in 33 games and debuted in European competitions. His UEFA Conference League qualifier appearance against Finland’s SJK Seinajoki marked another milestone in his career.

The 2023 season saw Adams rise to even greater heights. Demonstrating his clinical finishing, he scored 17 goals in just 17 games. This remarkable feat led him to briefly top the European Golden Shoe standings, attracting Montpellier’s interest. By the summer, he accepted their offer and made the switch to Ligue 1.

On the international stage, Adams also left his mark early. He represented Nigeria’s Under-20 team, featuring twice at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Poland.

With Adams’ proven goal-scoring record and versatility, Montpellier fans have every reason to anticipate a bright future for their new signing.
