Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has urged residents not to be swayed by what it described as politically motivated campaigns aimed at diverting attention from his administration achievements.
He insisted that the state has entered a new phase of development in a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.
The governor thanked the people of Benue for their unwavering support, prayers and patience since he assumed office.

Alia said resistance to ongoing reforms was expected, arguing that major changes often attract opposition from individuals who benefited from the old system.

According to the him, the current administration has disrupted entrenched interests through reforms centred on transparency, accountability and improved service delivery, prompting some critics to spread misinformation in an attempt to discredit the government.
He maintained that his administration’s achievements remain visible across the state’s three senatorial districts, particularly in road construction and rehabilitation, education, healthcare, agriculture, housing, security and youth empowerment.
The governor also highlighted the renovation and construction of schools, the recruitment of more than 9,000 workers, reforms within the civil service and efforts to revive previously dormant state-owned enterprises.
Responding to calls for intervention in other sectors, he said such demands reflected the extent of infrastructural decay inherited from previous administrations.
Alia added that the Alia administration had spent the past three years rebuilding public institutions, restoring confidence in government and laying the groundwork for sustainable development.
Using the biblical analogy that “Benue has left Egypt,” he urged residents not to allow political distractions to reverse the state’s progress.

Alia called on citizens, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations, to support his administration, pray for its success and safeguard the developmental strides already recorded.
He added that lasting progress depends on citizens choosing unity, truth and hope over division and misinformation
