Beyond Limits Football Academy has captured its fifth The Creative Championship (TCC) League title in six seasons, completing one of the most dominant campaigns in Nigerian football history with four matches still to play.
The Remo-based academy, regarded as Nigeria’s gold standard for youth development, has compiled a near-flawless record through 18 fixtures. They have won 17 times, suffered a single defeat, and remarkably played no draws. The team has scored 60 goals while conceding just 14, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process.
Coach Olumide Ajibolade has engineered this latest triumph, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s foremost developers of young talent. His side opened the season with a 3-1 victory over Sporting Lagos, showing their intent to reclaim the crown they briefly surrendered last term.
That 2024/25 season ended in rare disappointment. Beyond Limits finished second, one point behind Real Sapphire, despite scoring 16 goals in their final four games. They came back by winning the TCC Cup final 3-0 against Dino and later claimed the inaugural Super Cup with a 1-0 defeat of Real Sapphire.
A home of future stars
Beyond Limits operates as the youth wing of Remo Stars Sport Club, based in Ikenne, Ogun State. Founder and chairman Kunle Soname has built a facility that rivals anything on the continent. The complex features a 10,000-capacity stadium, 56 residential rooms housing 112 players, a hydrotherapy chamber, gymnasium, clinic, and multiple training pitches.
The investment has delivered results beyond domestic dominance. In February 2024, Beyond Limits became the first African side to win the prestigious Viareggio Cup in Italy, defeating C.N. Brazzaville 2-0 in the final. They eliminated Fiorentina, Torino, and Avellino en route to the trophy. Ajibolade was named Coach of the Tournament, while Favour Aputaziem claimed Goalkeeper of the Tournament honours.
Months later, the academy added the Gothia Cup in Sweden, edging ASEC Mimosas on penalties in the B17E category final.
Pathway to Europe
The production line keeps running. Striker Kparobo Arierhi emerged as the latest prospect, scoring five goals during the Viareggio triumph and three more at the WAFU B U20 Championship to help Nigeria secure the title. Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has already made the leap to Inter Milan.
Players combine football with education. At the last West African School Certificate examination, 16 academy final-year students earned six credits or above.
With four matches remaining, Beyond Limits can still extend their staggering numbers. Ninety-four percent of games won. Three goals scored per match on average. Less than one conceded per game. And another trophy already secured.
For an academy that measures itself against European benchmarks, the TCC title is simply confirmation. The real targets lie beyond domestic borders. And by every measure, Beyond Limits keeps reaching them.
