The Boston Celtics made it rain on Friday night – and with it, made history at TD Garden. Against the Phoenix Suns, the Eastern Conference giants broke the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a season.
Although the feat was expected soon, it finally happened when Payton Pritchard drilled a left-wing triple early in the second quarter.
That shot marked the team’s 1,364th of the season, moving them past the Golden State Warriors’ record from two years ago.

Not long after, Kristaps Porziņģis tied that record with a smooth move. He faked out his defender, dribbled left, then pulled up from the top of the arc to seal the moment.

But Boston didn’t stop there. They went on to hit 14-of-39 from downtown by the final buzzer, finishing the night with a new league-best of 1,370. That pushed them well clear of the previous benchmark and firmly into the history books.
Moreover, prior to this NBA record, this wasn’t Boston Celtics’ first dance with 3-point greatness. Last season, while clinching the NBA title, they dropped 1,351 from deep—now the third-highest single-season tally in league history.
Even with the pressure of a record looming, the Celtics turned up the style. Jaylen Brown delivered a circus shot, banking in a 35-footer as the shot clock wound down. Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum added flair, dribbling in from half court and knocking down a straightaway 29-footer moments later.
While the numbers speak for themselves, Boston’s confidence from range continues to fuel their dominance. With the playoffs on the horizon, it seems the Celtics aren’t just chasing trophies – they’re chasing fireworks too.
