Ondo State Chief Judge, Odusola Olusegun, has sworn in Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the new governor of the state.
The swearing-in ceremony occurred at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure, on Wednesday, in the aftermath of the passing of the former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu succumbed to prostate cancer at the age of 67 in Germany on the same Wednesday.

The late governor had taken two distinct medical leaves, the first starting on April 3, 2023, and the second on July 10, 2023.
Following the swearing-in, the deputy governor pledged to carry forward and complete the initiatives initiated by his predecessor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He expressed the heaviness in his heart as he assumed the responsibility of the state affairs, acknowledging the unfortunate demise of Akeredolu.

Mr Aiyedatiwa emphasised the profound loss, emphasising the longstanding relationship they shared over the years.
