Is this the end of Boris Johnson and Donald Trump’s right wing political opportunism?
It has been an eventful day in world politics as former UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson had to resign as an MP due to accusations of him misleading Parliament about the Partygate saga.
The resignation of Johnson and the indictment of Trump coincidentally happened on thesame day with former US President, Donald Trump indicted on 37 criminal charges related to retaining classified information, obstructing justice and false statements.

Johnson and Trump are two politicians who get on very well and who have both benefited from winning elections in their countries riding on right wing populism waves, which some political observers believe has helped to polarise politics in both UK and the US.
Former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, angrily accused UK parliamentary investigation of trying to drive him out, claiming it was a āwitch-hunt under way, to take revenge for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum resultā.
Johnson also attacked Rishi Sunakās government, blaming the current prime minister for rising taxes, not being Conservative enough and failing to make the most of Brexit.
Only time will tell if today’s events would end both men’s career in politics. But surely their large bases would have a big say in answering the question ‘if it is the end of Johnson and Trump’ in politics.
