BREAKING: OAU loses staff to lion attack at the University’s Zoological Garden

A 9-year-old male lion on Monday attacked and killed a zookeeper, Mr. Olabode Olawuyi, at the Zoological Garden of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Mr. Olawuyi, a Veterinary Technologist who had been working in the Zoological garden for almost a decade, fell victim to the lion while feeding the wild cats.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, officially confirmed the incident in a statement on the same day.

He said, “Mr Olawuyi has been taking care of the lions since they were born on campus about 9 years ago but, tragically, the male lion killed the man who had been feeding them.
