BREAKING: System glitch sparks debt cancellation across MTN network


MTN Nigeria has clarified that a system glitch was responsible for the unexpected removal of borrowed credit from the accounts of subscribers.

The telecommunications company revealed this information through an official statement posted on its X platform (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday.

News Round The Clock (NRTC) has learned that earlier today, certain subscribers entertained the belief that the MTN operator intentionally cleared their outstanding debts, leading to a wave of jubilation among them.

The statement read: “Y’ello. MTN Nigeria Communications Pic can confirm a system glitch impacting balance enquiries. As a result, some customers may receive error messages showing that their balances have been cleared. This is not the case and all balances will reflect accurate figures once the problem is resolved. Please accept our apologies. We regret the inconvenience.”

MTN has assured that their dedicated team of engineers is actively addressing the issue to ensure a prompt resolution.
