Bruno Fernandes secures March POTM award — He’s basically the John Wick of midfielders now

He then stepped up once more against Leicester City, providing two assists and scoring in United’s commanding 3-0 win. Impressively, those assists brought his Premier League tally to 50, marking a significant career milestone.

Though Fernandes had previously won four Player of the Month awards in 2020, this latest honor breaks a five-year gap. Nevertheless, it’s his fifth overall, an achievement that speaks volume about his consistent impact since arriving at Old Trafford.

Moreover, this latest recognition moves him into elite company on the Premier League all-time list. He now sits joint-third with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, only two behind Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, and Sergio Agüero.

In addition to his Player of the Month accolades, Fernandes has also secured three Goal of the Month awards. That brings his total monthly recognitions to eight since joining United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.

This time around, Fernandes topped a competitive six-man shortlist that featured several standout performers. However, after the public votes were combined with expert opinions, he emerged as the clear winner.

Undoubtedly, Fernandes remains the heartbeat of Erik ten Hag’s side. With form like this, he’s proving why he’s still one of the league’s most influential playmakers.
