‘To Kill A Monkey’ star actor Bucci Franklin credits God for his acting talent, says he chose theatre arts out of passion

Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has revealed that his exceptional acting talent is a gift from God and that his decision to study theatre arts came from a deep conviction that it was his true calling.

In a recent interview with Bella Naija, the lead star of the trending film To Kill a Monkey recalled how his mother initially wanted him to study law instead of pursuing acting.

He said, “My sweet mother didn’t want me to do theatre arts, but wanted me to do law.”

Bucci shared that his acting journey began in church before he took it to the professional stage. In To Kill a Monkey, he played the lead role of Oboz Da Boss, contributing both on-screen and behind the scenes.

The actor, who also starred in Rattlesnake alongside Ramsey Nouah, praised the contributions of Northerners and Yorubas to the Nigerian film industry, mentioning actors like Iyabo Ojo for their strong presence on Netflix.

Looking ahead, Bucci expressed his commitment to telling authentic Nigerian stories, particularly from the Niger Delta, Igbo culture, and the South East.

He said his vision for Nollywood includes a focus on narratives centered on women, driven by his passion to tell their stories with depth and authenticity.
