Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his satisfaction with the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo State governorship election, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa win with a landslide.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari commended the outcome of the election, describing it as a clear message from the voters about their confidence in the APC and Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.

The former president noted that the election results reflect the will of the people and urged all stakeholders to respect the choice made by the electorate through the ballot box.

“The voters have spoken lucidly and loudly, and their wishes must be respected,” Buhari said.

He emphasised that the success of the election demonstrates the strength of Nigeria’s democracy, highlighting that despite the countryā€™s vast diversity, the democratic process remains resilient and cannot be easily overturned.

However, Buhari also pointed out that the victory presents a challenge to Governor-elect Aiyedatiwa, urging him to focus on policies that foster economic growth, tackle high unemployment and inflation, and advance welfare programs that improve the lives of the people.

The former president also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for their efforts in addressing shortcomings observed in previous elections, contributing to a smoother electoral process.

Buhari wished Governor Aiyedatiwa and his team a successful tenure in office, expressing hope that they would build on the achievements of the past and continue to serve the people of Ondo State effectively.
