Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of more than 100 people in recent flash floods in Niger State and 22 others, including young athletes, coaches, and officials, who died in a road accident in Kano State.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Saturday, Buhari said the twin tragedies left him devastated.
“I am deeply pained by the loss of lives due to the floods in Niger State and the road accident in Kano State. The deaths are painful and devastating,” the former president said.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, as well as the governments and people of both states.
“Condolences to the families and friends of all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon,” he added.
The flash floods in Niger State destroyed homes and displaced thousands, while the Kano accident claimed the lives of several young sportsmen and officials travelling for an event.
