Sunday’s match in Rabat was closely contested, with neither team scoring in the first half. However, the hosts went ahead in the 53rd minute when Joel Beya scored for ASFAR.

With the aggregate tied at 2-2, controversy erupted as the referee awarded a quite debatable penalty to ASFAR. Amine Zouhzouh converted the penalty, leaving the Nigerian side frustrated.

Nigeria’s remaining representatives

Nigeria’s struggles in continental competitions continued as El-Kanemi Warriors were also eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup. They lost 2-1 away to Dadje FC of Benin at General Mathieu Kerekou Stadium.

Right now, only two Nigerian teams remain in continental competitions: Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu in the CAF Champions League and Enyimba Int’l FC on Aba in the CAF Confederation Cup.
