‘Can You Fix Nigeria’ Series – Episode 1
In October 2020, after months of observing the drift Nigeria was experiencing, the slow response to the COVID crisis and the general hopelessness of the citizenry; Culbeat Foundation initiated a series of non-partisan policy talks to re-evaluate the problems facing Nigeria.
There are strict rules in place to avoid partisanship, to avoid online abuse and to open our minds to discuss the problem with Nigeria. The series is tagged the Can You Fix Nigeria Challenge, and the episodes were recorded between November 2020 and March 2021.
It is our pleasure to serialise these discussions with you via News Round The Clock.
Episode 1 – Identifying the issues
In this maiden edition, the host introduces the series by providing a synopsis of the problems with Nigeria from his point of view. The majority of Nigerians believe that the core problems of Nigeria are poor leadership and corruption.
‘Can You Fix Nigeria – Episode 1’ catalogues other issues facing Nigeria like low revenue, high cost of governance, high unemployment figures, urban migration, a system of government and a lack of strategy amongst others?
In this first episode, we lay the foundation of discussion for the next twenty (20) episodes. Looking at the issues of healthcare delivery, education, judiciary reforms, restructuring, civil service reform, ease of doing business and so on.
