Manchester United’s season plunged deeper into crisis after a stunning Carabao Cup elimination to League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.

Coming after a defeat to Arsenal and a disappointing draw against Fulham, the latest setback has sparked louder questions about Amorim’s ability to turn the tide. The Portuguese manager admitted the performance reflected a lack of intensity and direction.
“I just want to apologise to our fans. The way we started the game, without any fight, was unacceptable,” he confessed. He further suggested that “something has to change” within the squad, pointing out that it was impossible to replace 22 players again.
