Nigerian comedian and content creator Carter Efe has had his Twitch account temporarily suspended, just days after making history with a viral livestream featuring Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The livestream, which took place on December 17, 2025, attracted massive global attention and propelled Carter Efe to the top of Africa’s Twitch rankings. He gained over 405,000 followers during the broadcast, becoming the continent’s most-followed streamer on the platform.
On Monday, Carter Efe disclosed that Twitch had imposed a four-month suspension on his account, citing breaches of its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. The platform, however, did not specify the exact nature of the violations.
The suspension follows Carter Efe’s rapid rise, which saw him surpass several popular Nigerian streamers, including Shank Comics, and deliver one of Twitch’s most-watched livestreams in collaboration with Davido.

After the announcement, fans took to social media to show support, praising him as a “joy giver” and urging Twitch to reconsider the suspension.
Online speculation suggests the ban may have been triggered by mass reporting connected to comments or actions during the livestream.
Claims that Carter Efe faced bans on other digital platforms were later disproven.
The suspension has left many followers disappointed, especially during the festive season, with hopes high for a swift and favorable resolution.
