The UEFA Champions League knockout playoff draw has delivered eight high-stakes ties. Consequently, Real Madrid must face Benfica again just days after a dramatic defeat. The first legs are scheduled for February 17 and 18, 2026.
Furthermore, reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain will play AS Monaco in an all-French clash. Meanwhile, Newcastle United face a long trip to face Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ. Other notable ties include Borussia Dortmund versus Atalanta and Galatasaray against Juventus.

This playoff round involves teams that finished between 9th and 24th in the new league phase. The winners will advance to the round of 16. Eight teams, including Arsenal and Bayern Munich, have already qualified directly for that stage.
The draw ensures an immediate rematch between Benfica and Real Madrid. Benfica’s 4-2 win on Wednesday denied Madrid a top-eight finish. Now, Jose Mourinho’s side will attempt to eliminate the Spanish giants over two legs.
The playoff second legs will be played on February 24 and 25. The ultimate prize is a place in the final in Budapest on May 30.
