Chaos rocks Davido’s Enugu concert as fans slam organizers over poor security

Thousands of fans who attended Davido’s concert in Enugu were left angry and disappointed after what was supposed to be a night of music and celebration turned chaotic due to overcrowding and poor security.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, during the third leg of Davido’s “5ive Tour,” which had earlier stopped in Akwa Ibom and Adamawa.

The tour is expected to continue in Ibadan on November 9 and Lagos on December 25.

Trouble began when the large crowd that gathered for the show reportedly exceeded the venue’s capacity.

Over 40,000 people were said to have attended, even though the arena could only hold about half that number.

The situation led to confusion at the gates, with reports of people forcing their way in, thefts, and harassment.

Many concertgoers complained that security officials were overwhelmed and uncoordinated.

Some attendees said touts gained entry without tickets, while others shared how they lost phones, shoes, and bags to thieves.

Several fans also recounted being harassed and injured during the stampede that occurred when the gates were breached.

According to witnesses, the event, which was scheduled to start by 4 p.m., did not see Davido take the stage until around 3 a.m.

By that time, the crowd had grown restless, and many had already endured hours of chaos, including being pushed, beaten, or tasered by security personnel trying to control the situation.

Videos and posts shared online showed angry fans expressing disappointment over the poor organization and lack of crowd management.

Many demanded that concert organizers take responsibility and prioritize the safety of fans in future shows.

@adis_beautification: “People without tickets entered freely while those of us who paid struggled at the gate. The security team failed completely. Touts snatched phones and bags, and many girls were robbed. My phone is gone.”

@hairz_by_steph: “The crowd was uncontrollable. I was harassed several times. They were touching girls anyhow, and security didn’t do anything. I even lost my nails trying to escape the crowd.”

@mmachukwu: “The gate was a war zone. They used canes and tasers on people. Everyone was pushing and falling. Security just kept beating people instead of controlling the crowd.”

@mirabel_merra: “When the security got tired, they left the gate completely. People were forcing their way in. It almost turned into a stampede. I had to drag my sister out so she wouldn’t fall.”

@reallifestories: “I lost my bag, my shoe, and even a borrowed wig. A stranger had to help me with clothes and slippers to go home. It was a nightmare.”

@Gidi_Traffic: “It’s 2025; there’s no excuse for such poor planning. Concert organizers must start prioritizing the safety of fans, especially women. What happened in Enugu was unacceptable.”
