Chelsea have officially announced the departure of Head Coach Enzo Maresca while confirming both parties mutually agreed to part ways.
The club acknowledged his achievements, especially the UEFA Conference League triumph and the FIFA Club World Cup success. However, with the campaign drifting, Chelsea believe change is essential to revive their ambitions.
Maresca leaves just months after delivering global silverware in what initially appeared a promising tenure. Yet recent domestic struggles, including only one league win in seven, forced growing concern. Chelsea fell significantly behind title challengers and risked losing grip on Champions League qualification hopes.
Though results faltered, Maresca previously impressed key decision-makers with his tactical structure and composure under pressure. His top-four finish last season and European victory strengthened his credibility. Still, as tension grew and performances dipped, the club felt decisive action was unavoidable.
Turbulence, uncertainty, and a search for stability
Chelsea insist this decision is more of a reactionary one and believes it gives the squad renewed motivation. Maresca’s emotional outburst after the 2-0 win over Everton recently revealed internal strain behind the scenes. His exit arrives with the Blues facing Manchester City next.
For now, first-team management remains uncertain, and the club is weighing its options carefully. Assistant Willy Caballero could step in temporarily, having previously deputised during bans.

Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior is admired within the ownership structure, while Roberto De Zerbi remains a long-term favourite. Kieran McKenna, Thomas Frank, Oliver Glasner, and Andoni Iraola are also under consideration.
Regardless of who arrives, expectation remains enormous at Stamford Bridge. The club now hopes fresh leadership can steer them back toward elite consistency.
