Chelsea have made an official statement regarding the Menial Cruciate Ligament (MCL) injury sustained by summer signing Christopher Nkunku.
The 25-year-old got injured in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund during their latest pre-season match. Nkunku was replaced by Mykhailo Mudryk in the encounter.
Chelsea’s worst fears have now been confirmed as the French player is expected to be out for months.

“Nkunku has sustained a knee injury which will rule the forward out for an extended period,” Chelsea stated on their official website.
“The 25-year-old has undergone an operation and will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the clubās medical department,” the statement concluded.
Reports indicate that Nkunku could be out for up to 16 weeks and may not be back until December.
This is truly a big blow for the Blues and the fans. Nkunku has been a player every Chelsea fan has looked forward to seeing play in the Premier League.
