Chelsea secured a well-deserved victory over Leicester in the Premier League following standout performances from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues displayed superiority against the Foxes as they silenced the home side at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson drew the first blood in the 15th minute after showcasing strength and composure, outmuscling Belgian defender Wout Faes to win a long ball. The Senegalese then slotted home expertly after a clever setup from Fernandez.

After many missed opportunities, Fernandez doubled Chelseaā€™s advantage with a close-range header. Pouncing on a rebound from Jacksonā€™s initial effort, the midfielder made no mistake.

Match report

Leicesterā€™s frustrations were compounded by Harry Winksā€™ early departure due to an ankle injury in the 11th minute. The hosts struggled to recover, failing to register a meaningful shot until the 39th minute.

Despite some promising moments, Leicester lacked the cutting edge as Jamie Vardy was largely isolated up front. Kasey McAteer came close before halftime, and Wilfred Ndidi squandered a golden chance moments later.

Chelsea, on the other hand, dominated possession and dictated the pace. Holding 66% of the ball, they controlled the game from start to finish.

The second half saw Noni Maduekeā€™s goal disallowed for offside, adding to a series of missed chances. Moises Caicedo and Joao Felix also failed to convert opportunities – the Portuguese making his first league start since May 2023.

Cole Palmer nearly added a third but was thwarted in bizarre fashion. His shot was cleared off the line by teammate Madueke.

Leicester gets consolation

Leicester managed a late consolation when Jordan Ayew converted a 95th-minute penalty. Romeo Laviaā€™s foul on Bobby de Cordova-Reid had gifted the Foxes their lone goal.

Leicesterā€™s struggles continue as they languish in 16th place with only 10 points. Meanwhile, Chelseaā€™s win see them occupy third in the Premier League table, sitting on 22 points.
