Chelsea or bust: Garnacho risks exile after United fallout
Premier League twist: Garnacho snubs Bayern, insists on Chelsea switch

Alejandro Garnacho has set his sights firmly on Chelsea, rejecting Bayern Munich’s advances and leaving Manchester United facing a stand-off over his £50 million valuation.

United have demanded that fee, citing his homegrown academy status and the need to meet profit and sustainability rules (PSR). Chelsea also pushed closer to £30 million, creating a gap of £10–20 million.

The Argentine forward have dismissed Bayern’s late interest, insisting on Chelsea as his only destination. His stance risked inactivity, with United sidelining him from first-team training and the pre-season tour.

Chelsea’s pursuit depended on sales, including Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, or Armando Broja. Exits to clubs such as Burnley and Everton have been discussed, but progress was slow.

Chelsea remained under no obligation to accelerate talks. Their attacking options already included Jamie Gittens, Estevao, and Joao Pedro, while their priority shifted toward replacing injured defender Levi Colwill.

For Bayern, Garnacho’s refusal marked a missed opportunity. The German club could have offered regular minutes, but the winger’s insistence on the Premier League prevailed.

The stand-off carried the greatest risk for Garnacho. At 21, he has scored 11 goals and delivered 10 assists in 58 matches last season, but inactivity could stall his momentum.

United faced a dilemma. Lowering their price risked financial weakness, but reintegrating an unsettled player threatened squad harmony. Chelsea, meanwhile, could afford to wait, knowing Garnacho’s preference left United cornered.

As the transfer deadline approached, his future remained unresolved. Without a breakthrough, Garnacho could spend the 2025/26 season with United’s U-21s, jeopardising both his development and market value.
