Chelsea sack manager Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea have parted company with German manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties early Wednesday morning following the circulation of an official statement by Chelsea Football Club.

The Blues have started the season poorly, winning only three of their first six league matches. The two league losses suffered have been at the hands of lesser rated clubs, Leeds United and Southampton.

The most recent of Chelsea’s poor performances was a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

The club statement

The statement on Chelsea’s website read: “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.

“Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches; as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.

“There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.”

Tuchel won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup during his time at the club.

The West Londoners have spent over £250m on new recruitments and will now focus on a better future. The new manager will be tasked with proper management of the players by getting the best out of them.

Chelsea’s next game is on Saturday in a league fixture against London rivals Fulham.

Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane are early contenders to take over the vacant position.
