A cholera outbreak has claimed four lives and left several others hospitalized across communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The affected communities include Hurti, Bokkos West, Bokkos Central, and Mangol, where the disease has rapidly spread in recent days.
Confirming the outbreak in a statement on Monday, the Executive Chairman of Bokkos LGA, Mr Amalau Amalau, said health officials are working with the Primary Health Care Department and local cottage hospitals to contain the disease and treat infected residents.

Amalau further called on residents to remain alert and maintain proper hygiene to curb further spread.
“We call on the people of Bokkos to maintain cleanliness, wash hands regularly, properly clean fruits and vegetables, and drink safe water,” he urged.
He also emphasised the importance of early detection and immediate treatment, advising anyone showing symptoms to report to the nearest health facility immediately.
Efforts are ongoing to closely monitor the situation to prevent additional cases and fatalities.
