Nigerian defender Christian Junior heads to Finland

Ikorodu City FC have announced the departure of centre-back Christian Junior, who joins Finnish side KTP Kotka.

The Nigerian defender moves to the Ykkönen club, which competes in Finland’s second tier. KTP Kotka is based in the city of Kotka on Finland’s south coast. They have secured the centre-back’s services for the upcoming season.

Christian Junior departs Ikorodu City after a spell in which he established himself as a reliable defensive presence for the Lagos-based NPFL club. The 2026/27 season had not yet begun for Ikorodu City. As a result, they will now reorganise their backline ahead of the new season.

The move is an opportunity for the defender to gain exposure in European football. Finland’s transfer window remains open for clubs to strengthen their squads ahead of the summer fixtures.

Ikorodu City wished the player well, posting “We’re delighted to announce the departure of Christian Junior” before confirming his destination. The club used their hashtags #OgaBoys and #WeAreIkoroduCityFC to sign off the announcement.

KTP Kotka will hope Christian Junior’s arrival bolsters their defensive options as they push for promotion to the Veikkausliiga, Finland’s top flight. Further details of the contract length and transfer fee have not been disclosed.
