It’s time!!! The Christmas rolling in! For those in Nigeria, the harmattan season is in full swing, while those in colder climates are embracing the magic of winter.
As the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to cozy up with some great movies. Whether you’re snuggled up with a loved one or enjoying some solo time with your duvet, I’ve got some exciting movie recommendations for you.
This isn’t your typical list of classic holiday films. Instead, I’ve curated a selection of new Netflix releases from this year, along with one must-watch from 2020. So grab some hot chocolate, get comfortable, and let’s dive into some festive fun!
Holidate(2020)
When I discovered Holidate in 2020, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it broke away from the typical Hallmark-style Christmas romance formula. This Netflix romantic comedy is a refreshing take on the holiday genre, filled with laugh-out-loud moments, heartwarming scenes, and blush-worthy humor.
Despite receiving a modest 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I firmly believe that Holidate is a delightful watch, perfect for the holiday season. If you’re in the mood for a light-hearted, romantic comedy to add to your Christmas watchlist, Holidate is an excellent choice.
Our Little Secret
Netflix is pulling out all the stops this holiday season with its impressive lineup of new Christmas movies. Lindsay Lohan is back on the platform with another festive film, Our Little Secret, which also stars Kristin Chenoweth.
The movie follows Avery, who finds herself in a tricky situation when she discovers her boyfriend’s sister is dating her ex. As Avery spends her first Christmas with her boyfriend’s family, she must keep her secret under wraps. “Our Little Secret” is set to premiere on Netflix on November 27.
