The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, popularly known as Easy-money, over the abuse of naira notes during a birthday celebration in Enugu State.

Justice F. O. Giwa-Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court sitting at Independence Layout, Enugu, handed down the sentence, ordering one year imprisonment for the offence.

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency said, “Justice F. O. According to the EFCC, the 24-year-old palm kernel trader was brought before the court by its Enugu Zonal Directorate on March 26, 2026. He faced a one-count charge for mutilating naira notes amounting to N81,700.

It added, “Justice Giwa-Ogunbanjo thereafter convicted and sentenced Ikechukwu to one year imprisonment from the date of arraignment with an option of fine of N300,000.00 (Three hundred thousand Naira).

“The court also ordered that the sum of N81,700.00 (Eighty-One thousand, Seven hundred Naira) recovered from the convict be forfeited to the Federal Government through the commission.”

The EFCC further revealed that Ikechukwu was apprehended on February 28, 2026, at his residence near Timber Market in Enugu-Ezike.

His arrest followed credible intelligence linked to a viral social media video showing him spraying and trampling on naira notes during his birthday celebration in a hotel room.
