Cristiano Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, has received his maiden call-up to Portugal’s under-15 national team.
The 14-year-old, currently part of Al-Nassr’s academy in Saudi Arabia, will join the squad for an international youth tournament in Croatia from May 13 to 18.
Interestingly, Portugal’s fixtures will see them face Japan, Greece, and England during the competition.

Despite playing far from Europe, Ronaldo Jr’s inclusion signals his growing recognition at the international level. His father, Cristiano Ronaldo, shared his pride by posting a photo of the squad list on social media alongside the message, “Proud of you, son.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Sr remains an active Portugal international, boasting 136 goals—a record for men’s international football.
Although he now plays in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League, his influence in Portuguese football persists strongly. Notably, he led Portugal to triumph at Euro 2016 and later secured the inaugural Nations League crown in 2019, adding to his decorated career.
In March, 40-year-old Ronaldo added another goal for Portugal, despite missing a penalty in their dramatic Nations League victory over Denmark.
A journey through football academies
Ronaldo Jr’s football journey has closely mirrored his father’s globe-trotting career, taking him across top clubs’ youth systems.
Beginning at Real Madrid, then moving to Juventus, Manchester United, and now Al-Nassr, his development has spanned multiple elite academies. Reports from his Juventus stint claimed he once netted an amazing 58 goals in a single season.

Additionally, while at Manchester United, Ronaldo Jr shared the pitch with Kai Rooney, Wayne Rooney’s son, in the club’s youth ranks.
Meanwhile, videos capturing Ronaldo Jr celebrating goals with his father’s famous “Siu” celebration have gained viral attention online.
Though now officially representing Portugal at under-15 level, Ronaldo Jr holds eligibility for other nations as well. Born in the United States and having lived in Spain during his father’s Real Madrid spell, he could choose to play for either country in the future.
At Al-Nassr, Ronaldo Jr continues to hone his skills, gaining valuable experience under the watchful eye of his father. Despite being just 14, he’s already gathering global attention.
With this milestone, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr takes a significant step toward building his own legacy. As he continues progressing, comparisons with his father will follow, yet his talent already shines independently.
