Daniel Regha discloses top 10 artistes who defined 2023 (NRTC EXCLUSIVE)


Renowned Nigerian social media influencer and commentator, Daniel Regha engaged in a succinct interview session with the leading news platform, News Round The Clock (NRTC).

In the three-part interview series, Daniel Regha who is one of the most popular social media influencers especially on the microblogging site, X (formerly known as Twitter), the award winning influencer had a conversation with our reporters, delving deep into what fascinated him in the entertainment industry in Nigeria and across the rest of the world in 2023.

Regha who gained mainstream traction by soliciting advice to celebrities disclosed ten leading artistes who were able to define the trajectory of the music industry in not only in Nigeria but also in Africa throughout the year.

Daniel Regha Discloses Reason For Selecting His Top Artistes For 2023

Speaking during the interview session, Regha stated, “many musicians were standouts this year but these top 10 artistes were selected based on popularity, impact, and online sensation.’

“This has nothing to do with their body of work, or the quality of their music released in 2023,” he continued.

He went further to add, ‘these artistes have dominated the year in more ways than one, and likely have a promising 2024 ahead of them’

On this list, the foremost Nigerian social media commentator interestingly announced Afrobeat musician, Davido as the first.

The popular social media commentator mentioned Davido as the first artiste on the list. Regha mentioned that the reason for his choice is due to Davido’s popularity.

It would be recalled Davido released his fourth studio, Timeless in March 2023.

2. Rema

Divine Ikubor, a singer-songwriter who is better known as Rema is the second artiste on the list.

He gained initial recognition with the release of “Dumebi” in 2019. That same year, he signed with D’Prince’s record label, Jonzing World.

3. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress who has been called the Queen of Afrobeats.

4. Kamo Mphela

Kamogelo Matona, popularly known as Kamo Mphela, is a South African dancer and singer. She became an internet celebrity after she posted a video of her dancing on her social media account. 

5. King Promise

Ghanaian artiste, King Promise comes in on number five.

Gregory Bortey Newman, who goes by the stage name King Promise is a Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats singer-songwriter. He is a signee of Legacy Life Entertainment record Label and is known for several songs like Oh yeah, Selfish, Tokyo among others.

6. Black Sherif

Sensational Ghanaian rapper, Black Sherif is the next recording artiste on the list.

He endeared himself into Nigerian homes in 2022 when he released the smash hit, ‘Kwaku the Traveller”. Prior to that, he worked with Grammy award winner and self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy on the single, “Second sermon”.

In 2022, he released his debut studio album, The Villian I Never Was.

7. Asake

In 2023, Nigerian recording artiste, Ahmed Ololade who is better known as Asake released his sophomore album, Work Of Art.

This is coming after the singer-songwriter had an impressive 2022 with his studio album, Mr Money With The Vibe.

8. Spyro

Oludipe Oluwasanmi David who is better known as Spyro is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, he gained widespread recognition after the release of his single “Billing” which was released in July 2022.

9. Kizz Daniel

Kizz Daniel, singer of Cough(Odo)

Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, who is better known as Kizz Daniel, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame in 2014 with his debut single, “Woju”.

10. Burna Boy

The self-acclaimed African Giant, Damini Ogulu who is better known as Burna Boy concludes the list.

The sensational singer-songwriter released his seventh studio album, I Told Them… in 2023.
