Davido headlines star-studded AFCON 2025 kick-off concert

Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido will headline the official opening concert of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the the Nigerian as one of the musical superstars to grace the occasion. The Nigerian artiste joins an elite lineup featuring French Montana, Douaa Lahyaoui, Says’z, and Lartiste.

CAF confirmed the announcement on Thursday while unveiling pre-tournament festivities. The concert is designed to unite football passion with continental culture.

The show will take place on Saturday at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat. Festivities will run from 18:00 until midnight.

Entry will be free for fans holding match tickets or official Fan IDs. As a result, thousands are expected to gather before the tournament’s opening games.

Football and global sound for festival-style opening

Earlier this year, Davido performed at Nigeria’s National Sports Festival in Abeokuta. Previously, he also entertained millions at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.

CAF believes the concert will elevate the tournament’s atmosphere from the very start. In addition, the growing nature of popularly musical artistes and their song performances cuts across music, culture, and sport.
