Davido lauds Afrobeat artistes, says ‘they are on the same level as Drake’

Nigerian recording artiste, David Adeleke who is better known as Davido has applauded the improvement of the renowned music genre, Afrobeats.

Davido has spoken the combustion and immense growth that the music genre has experienced in recent years.

Speaking during the Hiptv panel discussion with the United States Advisory council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders In Nigeria’s Creative Industries, Davido stated that afrobeats artistes were now selling the same tickets as pop and hip-hop stars like Drake.

He noted that the earnings from an afrobeats single can translate to generational wealth.

“Afrobeats Artists are selling the same tickets as Drake. Now one song as an afrobeat artist can change your generation,” he said.

Davido urged young artists to collaborate with themselves rather chase international features, stressing that “When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all.”
