Afrobeats star Davido has lost a $50,000 bet after Nigeria failed to defeat Morocco in their African Cup of Nations semifinal match on Wednesday.
Before the game, the singer shared his betting slip online, showing he staked $50,000 on the Super Eagles to win the clash.
The match ended without goals after regular time, forcing a penalty shootout where Morocco defeated Nigeria 4-2 to secure a place in the final.
The outcome meant Davido’s bet did not pull through.
The loss did not stop with the singer.
Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller also suffered a setback after staking $3,000 on Nigeria to beat Morocco within 90 minutes.

Nigeria could not score during regulation time, and the game moved beyond the period covered by his bet.
Following the match, Peller went live online to express his frustration.
He praised the Super Eagles for their effort but lamented that his decision to bet on them came after their strong performances in earlier matches.
“Thank you Super Eagles for playing very well,” he said sarcastically.
“I have lost my $3,000 bet. You guys were playing well the previous games before I decided to place a bet and watch your match.
He jokingly suggested that his watching the game might have affected their luck, adding that things might improve if he stayed away from future matches.
“Maybe, if I stop watching your games, you will start playing well again,” he lamented during a livestream on Wednesday night.
Nigeria’s exit from the tournament disappointed many fans, especially after the team’s impressive run earlier in the competition.
