Afrobeats legend D’banj has unveiled plans for a joint tour with fellow Nigerian music heavyweights, 2Baba and Timaya.
Speaking during a recent interview with Adesope Live in London, D’banj shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming tour. He said, “We have great bodies of work. Because of how our industry is, there is a big market for everyone. So, yes, we will be going on a tour.”
The “Oliver Twist” singer expressed his excitement about teaming up with longtime collaborators, noting that the growth and international reach of Afrobeats have created more opportunities for artists to connect with global audiences.
D’banj also revealed that he and 2Baba have a new song on the way, titled “Feeling Good”, which could potentially serve as the tour’s title. He acknowledged the loyalty of fans who have been eager for new releases, saying, “For those who have waited, I want to thank you guys.”

Reflecting on the evolution of Afrobeats, D’banj spoke about the initial challenges African artists faced abroad, particularly in the UK, where they struggled for recognition compared to Caribbean acts. He contrasted that past with the genre’s current mainstream success.
He noted that Afrobeats is now widely embraced, even making its way into UK film soundtracks, and proudly described it as the “new pop.”
D’banj also credited the African diaspora for playing a key role in the genre’s rise. “A big kudos not just to the creatives but to the whole community,” he said.
