Defence Minister reiterates Tinubu’s commitment to equip, train Armed Forces

Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has assured the Armed Forces of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to equipping and training them to enhance combat readiness against insurgency and terrorism.

In a statement, Henshaw Ogubike, the Ministry Director of Information and Public Relations, said Mr Badaru revealed this during his visit to the military operations theater in Katsina State, where he addressed Operation Hadarin Daji at the 213 Forward Operating Base.

The minister acknowledged President Tinubu’s significant successes in the fight against insurgency and related crimes and urged the troops to continue their efforts against insurgency and banditry, commending their sacrifices and commitment.

Regarding the recent incident involving the killing of soldiers in Abia State, the minister reassured that the government is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such incidents from happening again.

Air Commodore G.I. Jibia, Commanding Air Component, 213 Forward Operation Hadarin Daji, appreciated the minister’s visit, stating that it would boost troop morale.

Earlier, the minister held an interactive discussion with officers and men of the Headquarters of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, Katsina, to assess their preparedness in responding to insecurity threats in the region.

Mr Badaru also visited the Nigerian Army Medical Center in Katsina, where he sympathized with military personnel injured during combat operations.
