The difficulty of identifying AI work rises because current developments improve AI capabilities and refine subtleties. The progress of AI technologies makes it vital to identify AI-generated content clearly but organizations are handling this task fragmentarily. Google adopts SynthID technology to identify any images modified through Reimagine in its Magic Editor user interface.

The digital watermark software SynthID of Google DeepMind became publicly available in 2023 to embed invisible marks into all generative AI-created materials. Before this development, Google implemented SynthID to operate in its AI-powered programs including Lyria, Imagen and Gemini.

The technology SynthID will introduce its watermark functionality to Magic Editor through a recent update. Reimagine works as a tool that enables picture modification through aspect movement together with special effects application and section deletion. Any Pixel 9 user or later model running the software can access the Reimagine tool provided they meet the requirement of 18 years of age or older. Users accessing Reimagine through the interface can prompt changes to their images. Users should provide Google with precise simple wording like “autumn leaves” for recommendation purposes before finding their ideal match. Images with SynthID watermarks represent the main distinction from the previous version of photos. Users can view the “About this image” section to access the feature for everyone.
