Detty December is the term Nigerian youths use to describe their expectation of the festive season in the most populous black nation.
Since the term was coined in the late 2010s, it has become a mainstay in Nigerian lingua franca. Nigerian citizens from across the world return home in the concluding part of the year to celebrate Detty December. Interestingly, this year witnessed the emergence of various international acts, such as South African musician Tyla.
