Amad Diallo’s electrifying performance helped Manchester United to a crucial 2-0 victory over Greek champions PAOK in the Europa League.

His two second-half goals gave United their first win in the competition this season after three draws.

Diallo was United’s standout attacker, constantly threatening the PAOK defense. The Ivorian broke the deadlock with a perfectly placed header into the far corner just minutes after halftime. Thirteen minutes from full-time, he struck again, curling a brilliant shot from the edge of the area to all but secure the win.

PAOK had their chances, but Tarik Tissoudali squandered the best one, failing to score from eight yards. Thereafter, United goalkeeper Andre Onana denied Mady Camara with an impressive save, keeping the game level during a quiet first half.

This win was United’s second in their last 12 European games, marking a crucial turning point. The victory gives Ruben Amorim, United’s incoming manager, a foundation to build on as he takes charge.

United’s display lacked the spark of Amorim’s current team, Sporting Lisbon, who impressed with a massive 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester City on Tuesday.

In three weeks, Amorim will debut at Old Trafford as United’s head coach against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

Up next for United is Premier League clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday. In similar fashion, PAOK have a home league fixture against fellow Greek giants Olympiacos on Sunday as well.
