Diego Simeone’s son Giuliano scores his first goal for Atlético Madrid in win against Las Palmas

Atlético Madrid bounced back in La Liga with a 2-0 victory over Las Palmas, thanks to goals from Giuliano Simeone and Alexander Sorloth on Sunday.

Atlético now climb to third on the league table with following the win – their sixth victory this season. Simeone’s side dominated from the start at the Wanda Metropolitano, with early chances for Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez.

Their breakthrough came in the 37th minute when Nahuel Molina set up Giuliano, who calmly slotted past Jasper Cillessen for his first La Liga goal. Atlético pushed for a second before halftime, but Samuel Lino and Pablo Barrios couldn’t find the net.

The hosts sealed the win in the 83rd minute as Alexander Sorloth beat the offside trap to score, securing three points.

21-year-old Giuliano joined Atléti in 2019. After a loan spell at Alaves last season, he has now earned a spot in his father’s first-team squad.

Atlético Madrid are third on the La Liga table with 23 points after 12 at matches.
