Prior to kick-off, she had garnered 11 goals as her brace took Nigeria’s total tally in qualifiers to 25.
Earlier, Nigeria had crushed the Central African Republic (CAR) 12-0 on aggregate. The Flamingos also walloped Burkina Faso 7-1 across two legs.
Just four minutes into the game, Harmony broke the deadlock after speeding past the Liberian defence. She struck the ball past the arms of goalkeeper Makula Konneh following a cross.
As Nigeria had done in their previous qualifying games, goals were expected galore. However, reverse was the case.
Peace Effiong came close to extending the advantage in the 17th minute before Moshood’s effort ricocheted off the crossbar a minute later. Moshood then fluffed her lines from close range when presented an opportunity in the 35th minute of play.
Four minutes before the hour mark, Moshood was at the centre of things again. She blasted her shot wide with only Konneh to beat.
Harmony Chidi then completed her brace in the 63rd minute after Nigeria capitalised on a defensive error by Liberia.
This year’s U17 Women’s World Cup will be the 8th edition of the competition. The tournament will hold between 16th October and 3rd November, 2024.
