A disturbing video circulating on social media has triggered widespread outrage after it showed the driver to Gombe State’s Chief of Staff physically assaulting a ward councillor in public.
The footage, shared by Sahara Reporters on X, sparked intense reactions and renewed conversations among Nigerians about alleged abuse of power.

In the video, the driver was seen repeatedly striking and headbutting the councillor. The victim appeared defenceless and pleaded for the assault to stop. The councillor, seated on his motorcycle at the time, showed no sign of fighting back.
The driver was reportedly attached to Abubakar Inuwa Kari the Chief of Staff to the Gombe State Governor. The victim was identified as the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses and passers-by reportedly attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation, but their efforts proved unsuccessful as the assault continued.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Gombe State Government nor the office of the Chief of Staff had issued an official statement on the incident.
