UPDATED: DSS confirm Emefiele’s arrest 

The Department of State Services, DSS, has confirmed the arrest of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. 

DSS made this known via its official Twitter handle hours after refuting the arrest of the embattled CBN governor. 

DSS in a statement by its Public Relations, Peter Afunanya said Emefiele is in their custody for some investigative reasons.

“EMEFIELE, NOW IN DSS CUSTODY The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons. 

“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”

DSS tweeted.

Recall that Emefiele was arrested yesterday immediately after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered his suspension from office with immediate effect.
