Edo Governor suspends aide over unapproved fundraising

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere, over unauthorized fundraising linked to an upcoming Oil and Gas summit.

The decision was made public on Tuesday through a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.

The statement revealed that Isere allegedly raised funds without the knowledge or approval of the state government.

As a result of this action, Governor Okpebholo has ordered the immediate suspension of the summit, which was scheduled to begin on August 7.

The governor also directed Isere to return any funds collected from donors for the event.

The government has cautioned individuals and organizations who were approached for donations to withdraw all dealings with the suspended aide.
