Edu told to avoid Nottingham Forest training ground amid growing internal doubts

Edu told to avoid Nottingham Forest training centre for the meantime.

Uncertainty has intensified around Nottingham Forest after senior executive Edu Gaspar was asked to remain away from the club’s training ground.

The development comes during a difficult campaign for the club at the City Ground. Pressure is mounting as the season approaches a decisive stage.

Forest currently sit in a tense position in the league standings. Survival remains uncertain as the competition intensifies.

Forest are 17th in the Premier League and level on points with West Ham, outside the relegation zone only on goal difference. Concerns inside the club have grown in recent weeks. Edu’s absence from recent matches has only intensified the speculation.

It is understood Edu, 47, has not been present at a Forest’s three most recent games, against Fenerbahce, Brighton and Manchester City.

Internal pressure builds as recruitment spending and managerial changes raise questions

Despite growing rumours, the club has maintained a cautious public stance. The club have declined to comment but sources close to Forest insist that Edu continues to work as normal.

However, instability on the touchline has defined the campaign so far. Having started the season with Nuno Espirito Santo in charge, Forest’s players are working under their fourth manager of the season in Vitor Pereira.

Managerial relationships have reportedly played a role in the situation. Nuno was sacked largely because of a breakdown in relations with Edu, with Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche suffering the same fate.

The responsibility now falls on Vitor Pereira to steady the club’s form. Pereira has been tasked with guiding Forest to top-flight survival but has yet to win a Premier League game since his appointment last month.

Recruitment strategy has also drawn attention. In terms of player recruitment, Forest have spent close to £200m on new players since the summer, a strategy that Edu – given his remit – has been central to.

Still, doubts remain about the effectiveness of that investment. Given their poor league position, there are understood to be misgivings internally with regards to Edu’s performance. Speculation around his future continues to circulate.

For now, the scrutiny surrounding his role shows no sign of fading. Nevertheless, Edu’s role remains under major scrutiny heading into the final weeks of the season.
