The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has called on civil servants to avoid corrupt practices and uphold ethical standards in their professional lives.

The admonition was delivered during an induction training session for new employees of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) held in Kaduna.

Represented by Nana Abubakar from the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate, Olukoyede stated the importance of public forums that enable the commission to educate and sensitize the public about its anti-corruption efforts.

In his paper, titled “Overview of the EFCC Activities, Sensitisation on Financial Crimes, Conduct and Importance of Ethical Behaviour,” he outlined what constitutes ethical workplace behavior and methods to maintain it.

He also detailed the EFCC’s mandate, structure, and collaborative efforts with other organizations, emphasising that compliance with rules is essential for any successful organization.

He reminded the new N-HYPPADEC staff that their jobs are a call to service and urged them to shun any activities that could harm the organization.

Olukoyede encouraged them to report any corrupt acts they encounter at their workplace or in their communities using the EFCC’s official digital reporting tool, the “Eagle Eye App.”

In a separate development, the EFCC and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have agreed to strengthen their existing relationship to better fulfill their respective mandates.

The accord was reached during a courtesy visit by the NEMA Zonal Director for the Northwest, Sani Alhaji Lokoja, to the EFCC’s acting Zonal Director in Kaduna, Bawa Usman Kaltungo.

Lokoja praised the EFCC’s significant achievements in the fight against corruption, stating that all well-meaning Nigerians must support the anti-corruption campaign for the nation’s progress.

He highlighted the long history of collaboration between the two agencies and expressed NEMA’s desire to enhance this partnership.

He also explained NEMA’s responsibilities and how the EFCC can provide assistance.
