The Entrepreneurship route might not be for you, so why don’t you just get a job?
It is quintessential for people to understand that the entrepreneurship route wouldn’t be ideal for everyone. Simply put, you might not be the next Elon Musk or to bring it closer to home, you wouldn’t be as successful as Aliko Dangote or Mike Adenuga.
Nope, it’s not village people neither is it because you lack the strategy to combust the marketplace. You are not just designed for this sole proprietorship role.
Just so you don’t end up a frustrated and vile individual in the near future, I’ll like to admonish you to dust your curriculum vitae (CV) and get yourself a job. Something more profound and solid at least for the first five years after your National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Regardless of the symposium and programs designed to inspire your interest in entrepreneurship, it might not be the best route for you. Especially as a Nigerian.

Why Do You Want To Become An Entrepreneur Though?
Being an entrepreneur is quite enthralling and has its fair share of benefits, however, more often than not, the down spiral outweighs the upward trajectory.
In this part of the world, most people who identify as entrepreneurs delve into that sphere primarily because of the condition they found themselves in. The inability to secure a job is the primary reason certain individuals tow that path. It’s not destiny, in fact, they have no genuine passion for their field of endeavor.
The way entrepreneurs treat their businesses would inform you about what they think about their products and services.
Genuinely speaking, after studying in the university for almost half a decade, why would you want to start selling “fish”? Because you are passionate about how people consume aquatic animals?
Stop telling lies, you are here because you have no option. Selling fish on social media isn’t your dreams and aspiration, it’s more or less your last resort. You didn’t have this dream a child, you are conforming the whims and caprices of the society.

What Every Entrepreneur Should Know
To begin with, you need to develop a tough skin. As an entrepreneur, especially in this part of the world, you must be rigid, comprehensive and know when to speak up; if you can’t speak, then know someone in the realm of power. A personnel who can go to war for you.
Life isn’t a bed of roses, hence, there will be tough times. This is where most entrepreneurs quiver and run back to their shells.
Aside from being bullied by mainstream companies, being an entrepreneur is also tedious because you might not necessarily attain the financial freedom you desire.
You might know your worth as a person or an entrepreneur, albeit, your bank account says otherwise. You have a growing family, house rent, school fees and other miscellaneous to handle, how do you go about it?
Once again, you need a tough skin. You need to protect and secure the wellbeing of not only your family but also the affair of those of your employees (if you have any).
Meanwhile, working as an employee for a mainstream organization would bring you that balance and security that you desire. You can plan, strategize and curb your excesses.
As an entrepreneur, you are taking a risk that might yield no result or expected returns. You cannot afford to fail those who are looking up to you; you either win and become an influential figure or crash and bury your head in the sands of the earth.
It’s A Dangerous Business Being An Entrepreneur… But The Reward Is Worth It Though
In conclusion, this writer cannot tell you how to live your life nor caution you on how to chase your dreams and aspirations. Hey, your life is your number one business, after all, we are in a democratic state, hence, do as you wish.
But, you have a responsibility both as a personnel and an entrepreneur. My point is, make sure you garner enough a level of knowledge and experience prior to delving into the entrepreneurship route.
As an entrepreneur, you need to serve and get knowledge about your field. Don’t be in a haste to become a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), it’s a journey, hence, you will need to embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-development.
Aside from just working to make money, serving in an organization or with a 9-5 company would help in developing your soft skills and interpersonal relationships.
In the end, everyone wants to appear on Forbes list, 30 Under 30, fair enough if you ask. Don’t sell yourself short.
