The former Ajax manager will stay at Manchester United for at least another season after club’s end-of-season review.

Both parties reached a conclusion that the 54-year-old will remain at the Old Trafford outfit. This follows a period of major uncertainty about future of the manager.

Ten Hagā€™s running United contract ends next June. However, he has an option to extend by 12 months. Both the manager and United will now go into discussions about extending those terms.

Under his guidance, Manchester United ended a six-year trophy drought to win the Carabao Cup in 2023. He also led the Red Devils to claim the 2023/24 FA Cup title on 25 May.

Manchester United win FA Cup

United had beaten their arch rivals Manchester City 2-1 in the final last month. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo put United in a two-goal lead in the first half of the encounter.

Ten Hag‘s side held firm, resisting all attacking adventures of the more favoured City side. Pep Guardiola’s side came back into the game with a late Jeremy Doku goal.

City failed to get the equaliser and United had to settle for an important FA Cup title victory. That win was a bright spot in a rather poor season. The club had broken some unwanted records and were just too ordinary for a lot of their matches during the course of the campaign.

During the FA Cup semi-final, United led 3-0 against Coventry City and it was looking like a good ride. However, in the most unbelievable circumstances, the Championship club stunned all and sundry.

From three goals down, Coventry levelled 3-3. The equaliser being a penalty scored by Haji Wright in the fifth minute of additional time. United went ahead to win the shootout 4-3 before meeting City in the final.

Ten Hag’s retainment comes as a relief for the manager as he will continue in his job. However, co-owners INEOS and the club’s fans will hope to see massive improvement in play next season. They will also hope to keep winning trophies.
