Euro 2024 draw: Defending champions, Italy to face Spain, Croatia as host, Germany duel Scotland in opening match

On Saturday, December 2, the draw for the group stages of the Euro 2024 tournament took place in Hamburg, Germany.

The Euro 2024 tournament which has been scheduled to take place in Germany will commence on June 14, 2024 and come to a conclusion on July 14.

Germany, the host of the 2024 Euro tournament and three times champions of the championship will start the event against Scotland in Group A. They will also play against Hungary and Switzerland.

The defending champions, Italy are in Group B; a group that has been dubbed the group of death as it features tournament favourites, three times winners Spain and 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalist, Croatia.

In Group C, Euro 2020 finalist, England will face Denmark, a team they defeated 2-1 in the semi-finals of the rescheduled 2020 Euro tournament. Other teams in the group are Slovenia and Serbia.

France, the runners-up of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament will face the Netherlands, a team they defeated twice during the Euro qualifying rounds. They will also face Austria and he winner of play-off path A — which could be Wales.

Wales are joined by Poland, Estonia, Finland, Israel, Iceland, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Luxembourg, Greece and Kazakhstan in the last-chance to qualify for the Euro 2024 tournament.
