Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has been taken into intensive care after bleeding around his brain.
The Dutch is now in a stable condition in hospital, as announced by former club Ajax.
The 52-year-old won four Premier League titles during his six years at Old Trafford. He also won the Champions League in 2008, a trophy he also won with Ajax as a player.

After hanging his gloves, Van der Sar returned to Ajax where he took up the chief executive role in 2016. He later left the position at the close of last season.
An Ajax statement on Twitter said: “On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition.
“we’re thinking of you”
“Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. We’re thinking of you.”
Although no further details have been released by Ajax, it is being circulated Van der Sar was admitted to hospital while away in Croatia after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage, per Sky Sports.
Van der Sar endured a disappointing season at Ajax where the club finished third in the Eredivise. They also failed to secure Champions League qualification.
After careful evaluation, the former Netherlands international announced he would be stepping down from his role. He spent almost 11 years on the club’s board.
“I feel the need to take some distance, to get some rest, and to do other things,” he said on Twitter at the end of May.

“It doesn’t feel good to take decisions about the future of this wonderful club in the coming period. That is why I have decided to resign.”
