Excitement as Kunle Afolayan announces wrap production of ‘Anikulapo’ series


Award-winning Nigerian director and producer, Kunle Afolayan, has announced the wrapping of the highly anticipated “Anikulapo” series. 

Afolayan announced in a teaser video shared on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

He captioned the post, “It’s officially a wrap on the set of ANIKULAPO- Rise of the spectre ( Series).

Recall that the cerebral filmmaker announced the making of Anikulapo’ into a series in February this year with an impressive cast, including Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Lateef Adedimeji, Gabriel Afolayan and many more.

According to him, the upcoming project, a 4-part original series, will be available on Netflix.

Anikulapo tells the story of Saro, a man seeking greener pasture, but unfolding events and his affair with the king’s wife, he encounters his untimely death with Akala — a mystical bird believed to give and take life.

Since its release, the movie has kept making waves and led this year’s AMVCA with 16 nominations, winning 5 categories out of the 16 it was nominated for. It won in the categories; Best Indigenous Language’ (Yoruba), Best Overall Movie, Best Sound Editor (movie/TV series), Best Writer (movie/TV series), and Best Sound Track (movie/TV series).

While expressing his excitement after winning five AMVCA 2023 Awards, he appreciated God, his families, colleagues, and friends for their support.

News Round The Clock, NRTC, gathered that the wrap announcement anticipation reaches a fever pitch as fans eagerly await the long-awaited wraps of the series on Netflix.

The fans hope that Afolayan will be able to transform Kapfilm village into the African core version of Disneyland tourism sites so that people in other countries can come for short holidays.

They added that some members of the cast were amazing as the creative and entertainment industry is contributing to the development of the local economy.
