Remedies for Insomnia
Insomnia is a common sleep disorder caused by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. We spoke to NRTC in-house Doctor – Dr Uzoma Ogbonna who has kindly proposed the four remedies below for anyone suffering from Insomnia:
1. Exercise
My first tip for anyone suffering from sleep disorder is to have daily physical activity. Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel awake and energised. While previous studies suggests that you try working out earlier in the day and try to avoid exercising within two hours of bedtime. Some new studies support exercising close to bed time. The key here is finding what works for best you and sticking to it.
2. Nutrition
One of the most popular remedies for insomnia is to drink warm milk or herbal tea before bedtime. Both are believed to have effects on the brain that make it easier for you to fall asleep. What you eat and drink may play a big part in your sleep quality. Eating a healthy diet has many advantages, but make sure you donāt eat big meals within a couple of hours of bedtime.

3. Sleep Habits
Practising good sleep habits is important and will help to overcome sleeping problems. You should stick to a regular sleep schedule every day. Set a regular bedtime and a regular time to wake up so that your body gets into the habit of sleeping during those hours. It is also good to avoid napping throughout the day so you are more tired during night bedtime.
4. Relaxation
Learn to chill and relax before bedtime, avoid working late and try to get your most difficult tasks finished earlier in the day and not within a couple of hours of bedtime. Reading a book or watching a light hearted movie is also good. Remember that the more you worry about sleep, the more difficult it can be to fall asleep and overcome insomnia.
Despite Hilda’s sleeplessness, she took to Instagram to express her heartfelt gratitude to her fans saying that she is in awe of the love given to her by her supporters including numerous celebrities who have supported her and that she would never take it for granted.
Hilda also confirmed during her Instagram live video that she was overwhelmed by the immense support she’s received from various quarters, including government officials saying, āI spoke to the vice president, my governorā¦I donāt think you people understand how this thing is doing me. I just want to say thank you. Thatās all I have. I am so grateful to you guys.ā
